Arriving at the Cabin

Mom's cousin Mark Lungren drove up to the cabin with us. It is about an hour and half drive from Ten Sleep on mostly dirt roads. There are new areas of road next to the old one that was so full of ruts. Our Sienna van made the trip with Mike's careful driving. Mark opened the cabin and showed the men in the group how to turn on the water, light the propane and start the generator. Wow, we actually had some electricity!! We used two electric lights at night and two fans to keep the cabin cooler. (above the door there is also a motion sensor light.) We never had this luxury growing up. The picture of the men on the hill is near the pipe where you turn the water on. You will also notice that the cabin had new chinking and coating on the outside. Above the door is a sign that says "Reuben's Roost." Inside we were surprised to find that carpet had been placed on the floor in the living area and in all of the bedroom area. In fact before we left we vacuumed the cabin---imagine that. It was always just a wood floor before. Kerry's husband made a wonderful pine bench and large table that were a wonderful addition. (There will be pictures of them in another post.) We took the bench outside to sit on as Mark said they often do. There were also new cupboards and counters, and a new gas stove. Joshua was so excited to have a bunkbed to sleep on. He and Bryce were "bunk bed buddies" during our stay. The bathroom is still on a slant. Mark said they hope to fix that sometime soon. We did give the children a few baths while we were there. Finally, you will note that the pine trees to the side of the cabin have grown quite a bit in the last nine years. I remember when they were just small starts. The trees provided shade and we placed our camp chairs near them.
